What is a Disciple?

Bible Study

Welcome to our study of “GO!” Let’s get started...

Jesus tells Nicodemus in John 3:3 that he must be born again.
Read John 3:3-21 to understand more about being born again.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that we are new creatures, or creations; the old has passed away, the new has come. Erik describes this as our constitutional nature being transformed. When this transformations takes place, we are changed from the inside out. Why is this necessary in order to become a disciple?

After our nature changes, we then begin to make changes in our actions and attitudes. Consider your applied nature...what you want to do for Jesus, and how you can lead others into the same type of relationship.

Erik used the example of Army training to instill military values into soldiers, but also says that the change in our nature at the new birth is far greater than when one joins the military. How do the values we have at the new birth help us witness and disciple those we are trying to reach?

We must look to Christ’s example in making disciples, but always remember...we do our part, and the Holy Spirit convicts and brings people to Christ.

This completes this week’s lesson. Please refer to Erik’s YouTube video titled, “Gospel Intentionality”, which is also posted here.

Thank you...
Pastor John
