Jeremiah 24:7 - “I will give them a heart to know me; for I am the Lord.”
Philippians 3:10 - “That I may know Him, the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
Don't Look So Hard
In my reading this week of “Discerning the Voice of God” by Priscilla Shirer, the main concepts of the two chapters were that God exudes truth and that God speaks with authority. If you think you’re hearing a word from the Lord, but it’s contrary to scripture, it’s not from God. There is also a cautionary note that we don’t look so hard for a specific message, that it causes us to overlook knowing God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Seek the Giver
Some time in the past, when there was an emphasis on spiritual gift (especially spectacular ones) it became popular to say, and very truthful, that we should seek the giver and not the gift. At this point, we need to place more emphasis on knowing God, than to listening for a specific new message. The great majority of His truth has been revealed through His Son and through the Holy Scriptures.
As Philippians 3:10 instructs us - As we celebrate Easter, it’s important to know not only that Jesus was raised from the dead, but also to know what the power of the resurrection means to us.
Joys and Struggles
Living on this earth, even as a believer, there will be both joys and struggles. The current situation, i.e. Corona Virus, is just another result of the fallen world. The Apostle Paul reminds us that we must endure these struggles. If we really know The Father (Jeremiah 24:7) and experience a relationship with Jesus, we are being transformed into His image and will be able to discern any special messages He has for us.
